So to finally report a little on my racing at the European Track Championships in Portugal. I had a reasonably busy schedule, competing in the Team Pursuit, Madison and Scratch races, with the main emphasis being on the TP at the beginning of the week.
As you may have seen from the pictures below we came away with a silver medal. We where pretty dissapointed with the result, after coming into the competition with high expectations and feeling like the time we produced hadn't quiet lived up to the training we had put in prior to leaving for Portugal. There is not much else to say about the TP or any of the racing really! It was a blur and went very quickly, was super fast and the TP especially, one of, if not, the hardest four minutes of my life. We didn't quite pull off the end result, however I learnt the process of a major championships and took a great deal from the racing and general experience of being in Portugal. I think it will be invaluable for the 2013 season, it is such a differernt experience preparing for major track championships and putting all our hours of training in to practice, however I am sure I will draw on these ten days in Portugal many times in the future.
The remainder of the season is looking pretty jam packed. With plenty more racing to come and hopefully a few opportunities to get some results before the year is out. In the meantime the Olympics are in town, as is the newely opening Rapha Cycle Club London check it out!
